INGLOT Guide to Brush Care

Edwina Busuttil - INGLOT Manager Sliema The Strand complex

Cleaning your makeup brushes is the main factor in makeup brush care for three main reasons. Firstly, clean brushes ensure that there is no bacteria build-up in both the brush, as well as in the products you are using - this will help prevent breakouts on the skin, as well as help your products last longer. Clean brushes also perform better and easier makeup application, while quality brushes that are cleaned often and well taken care of benefit from a longer lifetime.

INGLOT Guide to Cleaning Makeup Brushes

Step 1 - Place a pea-sized amount of high-quality shampoo onto the INGLOT Brush Scrubber.

Step 2 - Dampen the bristles of the brush with warm water (but avoid soaking it as this will ruin the wooden handle of the brush) and move it across the surface of the INGLOT Brush Scrubber. Do this until the shampoo has been completely distributed among the brush hairs.

Step 3 - Rinse the brush thoroughly with warm water until water runs clear.

Step 4 - Remove excess water gently by creating a ring with your index finger and thumb and pull the brush through the fingers while maintaining the brush’s shape.

Step 5 – Spray the brush with INGLOT Brush Cleanser to prevent any formation of bacteria.

Step 6 – Hang the brush upside down on the INGLOT Brush Drying Rack, with the bristles facing downwards. Avoid placing brushes flat on a towel as this can damage the brush handle and have cause the brush to lose bristles.

Step 7 - Once dry, protect your brushes using an INGLOT Makeup Brush Guard for each separate brush.

Ideally, brushes are also sanitized each time they are used, for added protection. Do this by spraying INGLOT Brush Cleaner onto a tissue and rubbing the brush gently in a back and forth motion to remove all excess makeup instantly.

Continuous Care

It is ideal to wash your brushes once a week and sanitize them each time they are used since they are porous and can retain oil, debris, and bacteria on them. This means that investing in and caring for makeup brushes is a must, and investing in brushes such as those available in INGLOT’s high-quality brush range can ensure better longevity and performance.
